Denise L. Pease
Denise L. Pease, Assistant Comptroller of Commercial Banking in the Office of the New York Comptroller, serves as the Comptroller's liaison to New York City's diverse banking community and his senior advisor on banking, and consumer and economic development issues that affect the financial services industry. Ms. Pease spearheaded New York City being the first municipality to formally participate in New York State's Banking Development District (BDD) Program. She has also developed and implemented several financial literacy consumer education programs. She is a former Deputy Superintendent of Banks for New York State. She determined policy and the implementation of programs for chartered banking institutions and other licensed financial services institutions. Ms. Pease co-chaired the Financial Women's Association historic trip to South Africa. She arranged for and participated in meetings with senior corporate and government leaders. South Africa's Deputy President (formerly Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry) and several leaders of South Africa's government sought her advice as they further developed their banking regulations and strategies for privatization of government holdings and gaining increased private sector commitment to South Africa's communities. Ms. Pease continues to share her knowledge of financial services and economic development with South Africa's government and assisted in establishing Mzansi, a national program that has provided banking services. As a result of injuries, Ms. Pease has worked with a number of organizations that advocate for people recovering from head trauma and/or have Epilepsy. She is Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Epilepsy Foundation of America and a member of the Board of Directors of the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater New York. Ms. Pease has been recognized for her efforts by receiving a number of awards and academic fellowships. She is a former National Urban Fellow and a Charles H. Revson Fellow on the Future of New York at Columbia University's Graduate School of Business. She has appeared in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who Among American Women, Who's Who Among Black Americans, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, and Who's Who Among Young American Professionals. Ms. Pease continues to be recognized as one of the innovative leaders in consumer related financial services. |
