Melinda Baskin Hudson

    

Melinda Hudson is executive vice president for America’s Promise—The Alliance for Youth, and focuses her energies on forging the strongest possible alliance for children and youth, heightening awareness of their needs and measuring and reporting results. Since joining the organization, she has been responsible for mobilizing community coalitions and developing partnerships with national organizations in the public, private and independent sectors – including corporations, federal and state government, educational institutions, youth service and leadership organizations, foundations and faith-based organizations.

Before joining America's Promise, Ms. Hudson was the director of the office of public liaison at the Corporation for National Service during the Clinton Administration, where she built partnerships to strengthen the national service programs AmeriCorps, Learn and Serve America and the National Senior Service Corps. She was a member of the planning team for the Presidents’ Summit for America’s Future that launched America’s Promise. In the George H.W. Bush administration, Ms. Hudson served as director of communications for the Commission on National and Community Service. Earlier, she served as associate director of the White House Office of Private Sector Initiatives under President Reagan. Ms. Hudson has worked for three Senate Majority Leaders: Senators Howard H. Baker, Jr., Bob Dole and Robert C. Byrd.

Ms. Hudson holds a master of business administration in marketing from Columbia University and a bachelors of arts in biology from Vanderbilt University. She is also the former president of the Junior League of Washington and currently serves in a variety of volunteer posts including as a member of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Interfaith Center.
