About Us

Mission Statement

The Tutu Institute for Prayer & Pilgrimage supports and enriches spiritual journeys by offering opportunities for people to experience the world as recipients of God’s loving grace. It does this through:

Retreats, quiet days, and pilgrimages that offer immersion in Holy time and spaces set apart from daily, familiar routines and locations.
Intentionally formed communities of pilgrims who are open to receiving the blessings that God offers in human encounters across cultural, racial, and economic differences. The transforming experience of travel allows them to return to their home communities converted to a deeper relationship with God.
Stipends for care-givers to provide time for refreshment, reflection, restoration, and renewal so that they may discern their place in God’s shalom and keep the spirit of compassionate care alive.

Because our work is rooted in the Christian faith in which we have been formed we have a deep respect for the integrity of other faith experiences and their expressions.
